Winter Park Elementary > Kay Balderson

Mrs. Balderson and Mrs. Burke's Class
What we are learning this week:

Language Arts – We will be reading fiction and non-fiction books about the farm this week.  We continue to read books on our reading level.  Our ability to count the sounds in words is improving as we practice, practice, practice!

Mathematics – This week we will be working on the concept of geometry with both grades.  We will be doing activities with two and three dimensional shapes.  We will use geo-boards and pattern blocks to make shapes.

Science – On Friday we each planted various seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, and kidney bean).  We will be watching them grow and measuring them.  We continue to observe the growth and changes in our aquarium and terrarium.

Writing – First grade students are working on using transition words in their writing (First, Next, Then, Last).
