What does IAS look like at Winter Park?
Winter Park IAS (Intensive Academic Support ) is a special education program that supports students (K-5) with academic needs. These students can receive services through inclusion in their general education classroom and/or through small group instruction in the special education classroom. A range of support is provided based on individual student needs. Some students may only need support in one academic subject area, while others may need more intense support in multiple academic subject areas.
As an IAS teacher, I plan collaboratively with my student's general education teacher in order to ensure that the Standard Course of Study objectives are being addressed, as well as, their specific goals and objectives listed in their Individualized Education Plan. All students in the IAS program are based out of their general education classroom, receiving academic support based on their needs.
