PARSLEY > Ms. Williamson > Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program for 4th and 5th
graders at Parsley. The purpose is to encourage students to read good books
and have fun while doing it. Students will read from a pre-selected list of
books. They should keep a summary of each book they read with title,
author, setting, main characters, and main idea of the book.

In January, students that have read a sufficient number of books will be
eligible to be on a team. A team will be five to eight students. Reading
will continue on the remainder of the books. These students will also have
the opportunity to practice for the "Battle", discuss authors, share
favorite passages, work on vocabulary and other book related events.

The "Battle" will take place in in the spring. Students earn points by
answering questions about the books.
