My name is Maria Turnley and I am your Parsley School Nurse.  I have been here and Parsley for 3 years and love being here!  I have been a School Nurse in New Hanover County for almost 7 years.  My past experience include working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and as a Pediatric Triage Nurse in a large pediatric practice.  I have been a pediatric nurse for almost 15 years.

I am here to help in any way I can regarding the health care of our Parsley students and staff.  The health and safety of all of our students is our priority.   My services include:

*Emergency and basic First Aid

*Care for sick students at school

*Administration of medication to students

*Developing Emergency Action Plans for students with medical needs

*Vision screening (mass screening and referrals)

*Health promotion/Education (i.e., hygiene, handwashing, newsletters)

*Health Services/Observation (assessing and assisting students with health needs)

*Collaborating with other disciplines within the school and outside in order to meet the needs of students

According to CDC guidelines, children with fever of greater than 100 degrees and cough, sore throat or respiratory symptoms need to stay home for 7 days ,unless otherwise cleared by health care provider to retun to school sooner.   We must have a doctor's...
 
New Immunization Requirement

Remember Parents of Rising 6th graders ! Students entering 6th grade are required by law to have an up to date Tdap vaccine before beginning school for the 2009-2010 school year. 
 
End of Grade Testing

Please make sure that your children get a good night's sleep and eat a good breakfast before testing dates.
