About The Teacher

I was born and raised in Danville, Virginia. My parents still live
there. I have a younger sister who lives in Martinsville, Va with her
husband and my 4 year old niece. I also have a younger brother who lives in
Roanoke, VA. My husband, Chris, brought me to the Wilmington area 5 years
ago. We have a two year old son, Christopher, who is keeping us on our toes!
I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary Education and a concentration in Spanish. I recently added
Literacy/Reading to my teaching license as well. I can't believe that I
will be entering my eleventh year of teaching. Time flies when you're
having fun!!! I began my career in Person County, at a wonderful school
called Woodland. While there I taught several different grades including
2nd, K, 1st, and a K/1 combination. I have spent a total of 7 years in
Kindergarten so far, and it is truly my favorite. While employed in Person
County I was nominated for Outstanding Young Educator(2000-2001) and Teacher
of the Year(2001-2002).
I moved to Raleigh in 2001 with one of my best friends from ECU. In
Raleigh, I spent 3 years teaching at Wildwood Forest Elementary. I was in
Kindergarten for all three of those years. I received my National Board
Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist (ages 3-8) in November
2002.
I am really looking forward to starting my sixth year with Parsley
Elementary. I feel very fortunate to be associated with Parsley. I can't
wait to begin a new year!!
