PARSLEY > Mrs. Cuesta

I hope you all have a wonderful, restful, fun summer.  Please remember to have your child read each and every day.  Also, work on math fact fluency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).  This will help to ensure a happy, successful fourth grade school year!

Thank you for making my first year at Parsley so memorable!  It truly has been a great school year! :)

Summer Reading Ideas

The first and most informative place to check is Parsley's own website! http://www.nhcs.net/parsley/Curriculum/SuggestedReading.htm    This page will give you many ideas for books and lists a number of reading lists.

Also check out the lexile search on Parsley's website  http://opac.nhcs.net/InfoCentre/LibraryQuick.do;jsessionid=91E754A7D5451C40F1710C880389E407

Just type in your lexile and the website will list books on your lexile.  You can even narrow your search by typing in a keyword such as "mystery" or "nonfiction".  Your EOG report will tell you your lexile.

North Carolina's Department of Public Instruction website has important lexile information for parents http://www.ncpublicschools.org/accountability/lexiles  Look for "Lexile Information for Parents" in the middle of their page.

Don't forget the Battle of the Books reading list.  Click on my Battle of the Books link to see the list for next year.  As a 4th grader, you will be able to participate in the Battle of the Books next year!!  http://teacherpages.nhcs.net/schools/parsley/debrawarnes/Pages/BattleoftheBooks.aspx

Our very own Mrs. Hall has some great resources too, http://teacherpages.nhcs.net/schools/parsley/malindahall/Pages/SummerIdeas.aspx

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program:  Barnes and Noble gives you a free book when you read eight books.  Check it out:  http://www.barnesandnoble.com/summerreading/
