My Experience

I have been teaching forĀ 10 years. I started out as a kindergarten teacher and remained in that position for 6 years. In 2008,I became the Reading Coach at Blair Elementary.

Education

I graduated from UNCW with a B.S in Biology in 1998. A couple years later, I decided I wanted to become a teacher. I returned to UNCW and earned my Elementary Education Certification in 2002. After teaching for 2 years, I decided to go back to school for a M.Ed. in Language and Literacy. I discovered that I have such a passion for teaching children how to read. Not only do I love reading to students but I love watching them learn something new. In 2006 I earned my National Board Certification in Reading Language Arts.

My Life

I am married to a wonderful man and just recently had a beautiful baby daughter. We have two dogs named Breaker and Annie. We love to go out on the boat and sit on the beach. Our favorite thing to do is swim with our dogs! This year we will be able to take our daughter to the beach for the first time. I can't wait!
