Multiplication Rhymes

To learn multiplication, we use a program called Rhymes for Times. This program uses manipulatives and rhymes to teach "tricks" to learn the facts. Students are able to know the tougher facts in the multiplication tables by remembering a rhyme. Students have a workbook at school that we draw a picture of the rhyme in, as we study and practice. We only learn about two rhymes a week, but eventually we will all be Multiplication Masters!

We have learned:

Week 1:
x0: Zero is always the hero
3x4: 3x4, 12 knocks on the door

Week 2:
x1: Mirror, mirror look and see it's the other number not me
6x7: 6x7, rings are new, shiny and bright all 42

Week 3:
x2: Bubble, bubble...I see double
3x3: 3x3, nine cuts on my knee

Week 4:
x5: Don't get caught in a pickle, just think of counting nickels
7x7: 7x7, roaches on a vine, yucky and scary all 49

Week 5:
x10: When multiplying by ten, just use your magic wand to add a zero on the end.
3x7: 3x7, 21 angels in Heaven

Week 6:
x11: Double ones, double numbers
3x8: 3x8, 24 horseflies on my plate

Week 7:
x12: Punch up, punch over
8x8: 8x8, clips fell on the floor, pick them up all 64

Week 8:
x9: Fold your finger
3x6: 3x6, pick up 18 sticks

Week 9:
6x6: 6x6, 36 lollipop licks

Week 10: review

Week 11:
4x4: 4x4, I heard you snore 16 times and not one more

Week 12:
4x7: 4x7, 28 spiders are webbin'

Week 13:
4x8: 4x8, 32 bluebirds on my gate

Week 14:
7x8: 7x8, golly gee 56 dollars all for me

Week 15:
4x6: 4x6, count those 24 kicks

Week 16:
6x8: 6x8, fishing bait, count slimy worms all 48
