Laney > Ms. Karen L. Vaughn

Welcome to My Home Page! I hope you've had an enjoyable summer and are off to a great start this school year. I am excited to return to Laney as school counselor for students in grades 10-12 with last names R-Z, as well as students in the AVID program. I am located in the main office (100C ~ ext. 209) and invite you to stop by at anytime to visit with me. You may also make an appointment if you wish. I am here to serve and support students' academic and personal/social needs. I want you to have a wonderful experience learning and growing here at Laney High School!

This marks the beginning of my sixth year as a school counselor at Laney. I began my career in education as a High School English teacher in Union County, teaching English 1, English 3 and English 4. I then returned home to Wilmington and taught 6th and 7th grade Lanuguage Arts and Social Studies at Roland-Grise Middle School for seven years. I came to Laney High School, my beloved alma mater (GO BUCS!), in the fall of 2004.

I wish each of you every success this school year and strongly encourage you to do your very best in each class! Again, don't hesitate to come to me for help when you need it!
